Partitions is the design creation of IPP award winning puzzle designer Goh Pit Khiam. Goh is an IT/Electrical Engineer so you can guess how the name came about.

It consists of 8 interlocking identical pieces laser cut from Stainless Steel. The object is to take apart the 8 individual pieces (and put back together). Although it requires only 10 moves to fully disassemble with a level 4 solution, this puzzle will stump many. It has a very interesting and unusual second piece move. That is, if you can find out which is the first piece that needs to come apart first. Challenging, pocket-able, indestructible and very industrial chic looking!

Partitions is a totally different design from the L(8)tice-2 puzzles sold on this site.

IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE — partitions is specially made to order and will only be produced (estimated 4-7 working days) upon purchase. Please contact seller if you require more information.

This is a mechanical puzzle work of art made up of 12 interlocking identical pieces laser cut from Stainless Steel. Interlocking puzzles of this category rarely come in metal, let alone Stainless Steel. Virtually indestructible and very industrial looking! 3 prototypes were produced to get the tolerances right so that the pieces fit well interlocked together, yet is very smooth sliding for play.

The object is to take apart the 12 individual pieces (and put back together). Requires 23 moves to fully disassemble. It is very challenging to solve (unless you know the technique!). If you don’t wish to try to take the puzzle apart, just sit back, relax and be mesmerized by its clean grid lines and cool metal look. A real item of beauty and high quality which also serves well as an office or home tabletop display. Something your spouse or partner will definitely approve!

Definitely a conversation starter anywhere. Truly functional art that challenges the mind. In the solved position, the pieces can be pushed and pulled and moved about but they will never come apart on their own! But your hands will get tired because it’s so heavy! Once you pick the Dirty Dozen up, you would not want to put it down.

This is an 8 piece board burr interlocking puzzle and the goal is to assemble the 8 pieces into the shape as shown. The original L(8)tice had a single level 5.1.2 solution. see http://puzzlewillbeplayed.com/CombCross/Leighttice/.

L(8)tice-2 has an additional harder second solution; once assembled, the first and (slightly easier) solution requires a minimum of 5 moves to remove the first piece and the second (harder) solution requires 6 moves. Total number of moves to fully put together or take apart is 12 and 13 respectively. But don’t let the relatively few number of moves fool you-the puzzle is quite a handful in the hands.

L(8)tice-2 was inspired by Yoshiyuki Kotani’s E-Lattice, which is a 6 piece puzzle. In a way, L(8)tice-2 can be considered the bigger (and much more difficult) cousin of the E-Lattice. Solution provided upon request.
